Welcome to the Regional Public Health Institute Laboratory Directorate

Quality assured Health Care Laboratory plays a key role in strengthening the health care system through providing quality laboratory services and saving life across the Region. 

As Regional Public Health Institute Laboratory Directorate, we are mandated to perform mainly advance laboratory services (like Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Enzyme Linked Immuno-sorbent Assay (ELISA), Culture, Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST)…) to mitigate epidemic prone diseases, Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS), Quality Assurance activities, Sample Referral to reference laboratory to enhance access for peripheral health care systems and Capacity building activities for laboratory professionals.

The Public Health Institute Laboratory Directorate is responsible for leading and coordinating activities and initiatives that agreed with Ethiopian Public Health Institute to perform across the Region. Under the fully committed leadership, the Directorate will continue to enhance efficient, effective and evidence-based by delivery quality Laboratory service across the region.
